The mods stand at the edge of a merger. Support but a little, and they will unite. But suggestions can be made if the community is willing.
I take immense pride in announcing the merger of the two on-going AoK modifications based on Tolkien's legends: Tales of Middle-Earth and Middle-Earth Total Conversion 3.0.
We must realize that everyone wants a final and complete LotR mod that can be used for scenario designing as well as playing random maps. So why not merge the two mods and serve all your needs at once?
This comes from long drawn discussions between Pallando27 (formerly Jorgito_aqua27) and myself. What you get:
Best of both mods: excellent graphics from BoME (now ToME) and gameplay features of METC.
Civilizations covered: Noldor, Sindar, Silvan, Dwarves, Numenor, Gondor, Dunédain, Hill Men, Eriador, Rohan, Dale, Easterlings, Haradrim, Umbar, Isengard, Angmar, Angband and Mordor; allowing us to play as any faction in Middle-Earth. For example, players can choose any of Numenor, Dunedain, Hill Men and Eriador to play as Arnor (specifically Arthedain, Rangers of the North, Rhudaur and Cardolan).
Unique graphics for all civs (both buildings and units).
All three ages covered, though the First Age civ buildings will be available only in the editor (due to incompatibility with the Dark Age).
A host of special units like Ents, Spiders, Balrogs, Dragons etc.
No more "I like half of BoME half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of METC half as well as it deserves!"
A speedier modding process.
The official mod thread and name remains Tales of Middle-Earth (ToME), representing a union of BoME and METC. Lets aim to finally produce a complete and perfect LotR mod.
