原版朋友有難、大唐入侵(關卡內容與九州叛亂相同)
Tang Invasion, 663 AD
Scenario Instructions:
The defeat of the Scilla armies 100 years ago brought relative peace to the Korean peninsula. The Yamato have been able to benefit from trade in this area and your influence has expanded. A new threat has appeared, however. Chinese armies of the Tang Dynasty have penetrated the peninsula from the north. One army is marching on your colony, while another deals with your Paekche friends. You must defeat the Tang army or your foothold in Korea is lost. Win the battle to become the greatest Yamato leader and launch the Yamato as a world power.
Objective:
- Destroy the Tang.
Hints:
- Use the narrow shallows to your advantage.
- The Tang have fielded a massive army. Create a large force of your own -- it will be your only chance.
Historical Outcome:
The Paekche and Yamato forces were crushed by the Tang army at the battle of Hakusukinoe. We know little of the battle but the Chinese reported over 100,000 enemy dead. Loss of this battle forced the withdrawal of the Yamato from the peninsula. They could only influence the area through trade and diplomacy for several centuries. Had the battle been won, the Yamato presence would have continued and perhaps extended further into Korea and Asia.
Historical Notes:
Although a loose status quo was maintained in southern Korea, other forces were on the move. China, rejuvenated under the Tang dynasty, showed interest in the peninsula and Chinese armies began invading from the north. At the battle of Hakusukinoe in 663, a combined Paekche and Yamato army clashed with a large Tang army to decide the fate of Yamato and Tang influence on the peninsula.
A Friend in Need, 562 AD
Scenario Instructions:
The success of your invasion of Kyushu brought southern Japan under Yamato control. Over the last century that control has spread to the north on the main island and overseas to a colony on the mainland of Korea. There you have become an ally of the Paekche Kingdom, but enemies of the Scilla. War has recently broken out between the Paekche and the Scilla. It is in your best interest to aid the Paekche. If they fall, the Yamato colony is sure to follow. Aid your Paekche allies in any way possible and destroy the nearby Scilla town to gain control of this borderland.
Objectives:
- Protect the Paekche.
- Destroy Scilla town.
Hints:
- Fight for every gold mine that you discover.
- The Scilla are helpless without their villagers.
Historical Outcome:
The Paekche town was saved and an uneasy balance of power was maintained for another 100 years in southern Korea with Yamato help. Neither the Paekche nor the Scilla were quite able to eliminate or dominate the other. The Yamato clan held on, but was not able to expand.
Historical Notes:
Chinese records of this era called Japan the land of Wa, reporting that it contained over 100 kingdoms. This may have been in reference to the 100+ clan groups that had been united under the Yamato clan. We know that Yamato emissaries traveled to China bearing gifts, but little else.
After the Yamato had consolidated their power in Japan, they began extending their influence onto the Korean Peninsula. At this time there were two kingdoms in southern Korea, the Scilla and the Paekche. The Yamato established an enclave of settlers in the south between the two southern powers. In that position, the Yamato settlers became embroiled in the struggle between the two Korean kingdoms for prominence. The Yamato policy was to keep either from becoming dominant. |
